Pastoral Staff

Dr. William Brown was born in Palestine, Arkansas, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations, a Master of Arts in Christian Education, and a PhD in Theology. Dr. Brown was licensed to preach in November 1974 and ordained in June 1978. Dr. Brown served as pastor of Mt. Olivette Baptist Church in Oakland, California; and was the founder and Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Union City, California. He also served as Assistant Pastor at Morning Star Baptist Cin Oakland, California. Dr. Brown served as an Associate Minister for 21 years before being elected as Pastor of Community Baptist Church. Dr. Brown has been married to First Lady Jennene for 32 years and is a proud father and grandfather.

Reverend Richard Lewis Jr. was born in Cleveland Ohio. He is an alumnus of the World Christian Training program for evangelism. He has completed advanced courses in Old Testament Survey and New Testament Survey in addition to extensive courses in the National Congress of Christian Education, Evangelism. He was awarded the Effective Teaching Certification following completion of the Pastor Administration Course. Pastor Lewis was licensed to preach in August 1980 at the Starlight Baptist Church, East Cleveland, Ohio. Pastor Lewis was chosen as Assistant Pastor at Community in December of 2024. He has been married to Vanessa Lewis for the past 47 years and is the proud parent of two children and four grandchildren.

Darryl A. Bryant was born in Eustis, Florida. For the past 34 years he has served in many positions at Community Baptist church. Under the tutelage of Reverend Sam Robison, he has worked to bridge the gap between the church, the community of Henderson at large and the secular world in general. He has been successful in creating unique opportunities for spiritual growth on many levels. Being the youngest member of the Pastoral team, he has focused on mentoring the younger members of the congregation by providing guidance in their aspirations toward a closer walk with God.

Pastor Sam Roberson began his career preaching in May of 1965. By February of 1977 he had been appointed as Senior Pastor at Community in. In 1997 he also served as President of the Pride of the West District Congress and then in 2000 as Convention President of the Nevada/California Interstate Missionary Baptist Convention. Subsequently Pastor Roberson served on the Board of Directors for the National Baptist USA Inc. Pastor Roberson’s vision was the building of the Smith-Williams Senior Apartment Complex in 2010. Pastor Roberson also served on the Board of the National Baptist Convention USA. In 2022 Pastor Robison stepped down as Senior Pastor of Community Baptist and passed the torch on to Dr. William Brown.

Minister Charles “Chuck” Lyons hails from Cincinatti, Ohio.
He was ordained in 1995 at Zion Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia. In addition to preaching and ministering, Minister Lyons has had an esteemed music career as a composer, organist and minister of Music. He is a member of the GMWA and serves as Music Coordinator of the Southeast Region. Durng his career as a pianist and organist, Chuck has performed and recorded with numerous gospel artists including Andre Crouch, Edwin Hawkins, Mattie Moss Clark, Hezekiah Walker, Kirk Franklin, Brenda waters and Whitney Houston. Minister Lyons sings and plays with the various music ensembles at Community each week.
